I went to Bath this saturday, where I lived and studied for 5years.  It’s very small city in south west of England, 15 mins on the train from where I live.  It’s popular with tourist because it’s registered world heritage.  I often go to Bath to visit friends, but my aim this time was to go to the market there, where I always find something interesting for reasonable price.

I found this old box full of embroidery threads! It was ￡8,  but I haggled well, and got it for ￡5 !

土曜日にバースに行って来ました。私が大学、大学院と5年間を過ごした思い出の場所。バースはイギリス南西部に位置する小さな街で、世界遺産の街でもあるので週末は観光客でいっぱいです。

私の住むところからも電車で15分ほどで、よく友達を訪ねに行くのですが、今回の目的はマーケット。有名ではないのですが古くて面白いものがちょこちょこあるし、安いのです。

この箱いっぱいの刺繍糸は８ポンドだったものを5ポンドにまけてもらいました。（日本円で７００円くらい）

カラフルで、見た瞬間にテンションが上がった！

And this one, handkerchiefs and paper napkins from all over the world ; Scotland, Paris, Canada and Australia.  It’s probably from someone’s chest of drawers.  I love the dancing Scottish man printed. ￡１ for all of them.

これは、誰かの引き出しに保管されてたと思われるハンカチと紙ナプキンたち。誰かからのお土産だと思われます。しかも場所もスコットランド、パリ、カナダ、オーストラリアなど色んな場所からで見てるだけでちょっとわくわく。お気に入りはスコットランド人の踊ってる方！のプリントされたハンカチ。全部で1ポンドという叩き売りぶり。（約150円）

Lady who has the best stall, full of vintage textiles and clothes from early 1900’s.  But It was good overall.

一番期待していた、女性が1900年代のヴィンテージもののテキスタイルや洋服を売るお店が出ていなかったのは残念でしたが、収穫が多い日でした。

Lovely couple, ten chan and jung-jung.  I have visited them about 7years ago with my friends dustin and eri.  Ten chan is a graphic designer

who manipulates pixels, and jung-jung makes amazing crochet accessories.

おしどり夫婦点ちゃんとジュンジュン

7年くらい前に友人のダスティンとエリと訪れたぶりのおうち。今回はヒロミとお邪魔しました。

点ちゃんはピクセルを自由に操るグラフィックデザイナーで、ジュンジュンはとてもすてきなクロシェレースのアクセサリーを創るデザイナーです。

ジュンジュンが私の作った付け襟を試してます。

色んな意味で憧れの二人。

その数日後にヒロミと行った目黒のカフェから外をのぞいたら、こんな光景。

These are the photos that I was looking for initially, for the competition.  I love sheep. I went to this place called mother farm in Japan, which is

similar to zoo, but you can actually touch them which is nice.

この辺の写真を探してました。羊ってふわふわで最高です。マザー牧場は動物を見るだけでなく、触れるのがいいです。

It was a very sunny day.

晴れていたので気持ちがよかったです。

Did you know that flamingos are pink because they eat pink shrimps?

If they eat different things, they would be different colour.  How strange.

フラミンゴがピンクなのは、えさのエビがピンクだからそうです。

えさの色が違ったら違う色のフラミンゴになるそう。不思議。

クレープにバナナは定番だけど、このバナナは焼きバナナでした。

美味しかった。

I bought this photograph in a market.  I love  the way they are dressed, from early 1900.

Collecting these old photographs is so much fun, I always feel very inspired by them.

私は古い写真を集めるのが好きで、たいてい箱から引っ張りだしてきては作品のインスピレーションに使います。
